Meet Sara.
Sara Veeneman, M.A., CCC-SLP, is a Speech-Language Pathologist with the McKibben & Monte team in Grand Rapids, Michigan. She earned her Master of Arts in Speech-Language Pathology from Western Michigan University and specializes in early intervention, helping children and families build strong foundations for speech, language, and communication success. Her areas of expertise include articulation, expressive and receptive language delays, phonological awareness and disorders, autism-related communication differences, stuttering, and academic language development.
Sara’s favorite part of being a speech-language pathologist is watching children make meaningful progress and gain confidence in areas that once felt challenging. Whether a child is saying their first words, mastering a difficult sound, or becoming more comfortable communicating with others, she finds tremendous joy in celebrating those milestones alongside families.
Her path to speech-language pathology was inspired by a deeply personal experience. When Sara’s grandmother was diagnosed with ALS and experienced difficulty communicating, she witnessed firsthand the life-changing impact a speech therapist could have. That experience sparked a passion for helping others find and strengthen their voices, ultimately leading her to a career dedicated to communication and connection.
When working with a new child, Sara takes a child-centered approach that prioritizes building trust and rapport. She spends time getting to know each child’s interests, strengths, and personality, creating a comfortable environment where learning feels natural and engaging. By following the child’s lead and incorporating what motivates them, she helps make therapy both effective and enjoyable.
Sara is passionate about supporting children across a wide range of communication needs, from speech sound production and language development to fluency and literacy-related skills. She works closely with families and caregivers to ensure progress extends beyond therapy sessions and into everyday life.
With her compassionate nature, collaborative approach, and dedication to helping children succeed, Sara is committed to empowering every child to communicate with greater confidence and independence.
