Meet Sara, a Speech-Language Pathologist with the McKibben & Monte team in Cincinnati. Sara earned her Bachelor of Science in Communication Sciences and Disorders with a minor in Spanish from the University of Kentucky and her Master of Arts in Speech-Language Pathology from the University of Cincinnati. She specializes in cultural and linguistic diversity, Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC), and neurodiversity-affirming therapy.
For Sara, the most rewarding part of being a therapist is supporting children in making meaningful connections through communication. Her passion for speech therapy is deeply personal—several of her younger siblings have benefited from the field. With two sisters who have Down syndrome, one verbal and one with apraxia of speech and complex communication needs, and two brothers with articulation-related IEPs, Sara witnessed firsthand the incredible impact speech therapy can have on children and their families. These experiences shaped her calling to help others find their voice and thrive.
When beginning therapy, Sara prioritizes a supportive, individualized approach that honors each child’s unique needs and strengths. She focuses on creating an environment where children feel empowered to communicate in ways that are meaningful to them.
Her favorite children’s books are the playful Old Lady series, and she draws inspiration from her favorite quote: “Injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere.” – Martin Luther King Jr. Outside of work, Sara enjoys music, sunsets, and the company of her cat. She also loves traveling with her family, with vacations to St. Augustine, Florida being a cherished tradition.
With her compassion, personal perspective, and expertise, Sara brings both skill and heart to every child and family she serves at McKibben & Monte.
