Meet Patricia, a Speech-Language Pathologist with the McKibben & Monte team in Columbus. Patricia earned her Master of Arts in Speech Language Pathology and her Bachelor of Arts in Political Science, both from The Ohio State University. With a deep appreciation for both the science and art of speech therapy, she brings a thoughtful, well-rounded approach to her work with children and families.
Patricia was drawn to the field of speech-language pathology by her love of learning and linguistics. She is inspired by the way research provides the science behind communication, while the “art” of therapy lies in the creativity and experience required to adapt strategies for each child in the moment. She firmly believes that developing communication skills is essential to academic achievement and social success for every child.
When beginning therapy with a new child, Patricia prioritizes making them feel comfortable—often using humor to build trust. As children begin to feel safe and supported, they become willing to take the risks necessary for growth. That moment of success, she believes, is when true progress begins.
Patricia’s favorite children’s books to share during therapy include A Napping House by Audrey Wood, Goodnight Moon by Margaret Wise Brown, Just Me & 6000 Rats by Rick Walton, and If You Give a Mouse a Cookie by Laura Numeroff. As a child herself, she was inspired by classics like Little Women by Louisa May Alcott, The Secret Garden by Frances Hodgson Burnett, and the Nancy Drew series by Carolyn Keene.
Outside of her professional work, Patricia enjoys gardening, drawing and watercolor painting, and reading nonfiction. Her thoughtful balance of science, creativity, and warmth makes her an invaluable member of the McKibben & Monte team.
