Meet Lori, an experienced Occupational Therapist on the McKibben & Monte team in Sarasota. Lori earned her Bachelor of Occupational Therapy from the University of New England in Biddeford, Maine, and brings extensive expertise in pediatrics, sensory integration, and autism.
Lori’s favorite part of being a therapist is watching children learn new tasks and develop foundational skills that set them up for happiness and success. For her, every milestone is rewarding—not just for the child, but for the family as well. Her passion for helping children reach their full potential started early. Even as a young girl, she knew she wanted to work with children, and she was captivated by the creative and purposeful activities she saw in occupational therapy. That early inspiration only grew stronger as she gained experience in the field.
When working with a new child, Lori’s priority is to make them feel comfortable. She builds rapport by letting the child guide the session with a favorite toy or activity, then seamlessly incorporates it into therapy. This approach helps establish trust and makes sessions fun and engaging.
Her favorite children’s book is If You Give a Mouse a Cookie by Laura Numeroff, while as a child she loved the timeless story of Charlotte’s Web by E.B. White. Lori also finds motivation in her favorite quote: “Believe you can and you’re halfway there.”
Outside of work, Lori enjoys playing pickleball, landscaping her yard, and working on crafts. She also loves collecting shells and finds joy in seeing her adult children thrive in their own lives. With her expertise, warmth, and passion for empowering children, Lori is a valued member of the McKibben & Monte team.
