Meet Katie.
Katie Holbert, M.S., OTR/L, is an Occupational Therapist with the McKibben & Monte team in Cincinnati. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology from the University of Kentucky and her Master’s degree in Occupational Therapy from Cleveland State University. Katie is passionate about helping children develop the skills, confidence, and independence they need to participate more fully in everyday life.
Katie’s favorite part of being an occupational therapist is seeing the real, meaningful impact therapy can have on a child’s daily experiences. Whether it’s mastering a new skill, gaining confidence in a challenging task, or achieving a goal that once felt out of reach, she finds tremendous fulfillment in celebrating those victories alongside her clients and their families.
Her decision to pursue occupational therapy was driven by a genuine desire to help others. For Katie, some of her greatest professional accomplishments are not defined by awards or titles, but by the countless small wins her clients achieve every day. She understands that meaningful progress often happens one step at a time, and she is honored to be part of those journeys.
When working with a new child, Katie focuses first on building rapport and establishing trust through therapeutic play. She believes strong relationships are the foundation for growth and that children learn best when they feel comfortable, supported, and engaged. By meeting children where they are and creating enjoyable, motivating experiences, she helps foster both skill development and confidence.
Outside of work, Katie enjoys spending time with her family, visiting the zoo, cooking, baking, and practicing yoga. She has recently embraced sourdough baking as her newest hobby and enjoys the creativity and patience it requires. Her favorite children’s book is Llama Llama Red Pajama by Anna Dewdney, a story she loves for its warmth and relatability.
Katie’s favorite quote, “Start where you are. Use what you have. Do what you can.” — Arthur Ashe, reflects the mindset she brings to therapy every day. Through compassion, encouragement, and a child-centered approach, Katie helps children build the skills they need to thrive while celebrating every step forward along the way.
