Meet Myah.

Myah Schaefer, M.S., CCC-SLP, is a Speech-Language Pathologist with the McKibben & Monte team in Columbus, Ohio. She earned her Master of Science in Speech-Language Pathology from the University of South Carolina and is passionate about helping children develop the communication skills they need to connect, learn, and thrive. Her areas of expertise include articulation, expressive and receptive language delays, autism-related communication differences, phonological awareness and disorders, stuttering, and academic language development.

For Myah, some of the most rewarding moments in therapy are the breakthrough moments—those milestones that may seem small to others but represent tremendous growth for a child. Whether it’s producing a challenging speech sound, engaging in joint play with a peer, or independently activating a cause-and-effect toy for the first time, she treasures the opportunity to celebrate each success alongside her clients and their families. These moments serve as powerful reminders that progress comes in many forms and that every victory deserves recognition.

Myah’s journey into speech-language pathology was inspired by personal experiences within her own family. While in high school, her grandfather suffered a stroke, and around the same time, her younger brother was diagnosed with autism. Witnessing the profound impact communication challenges can have, and the difference skilled therapists can make, sparked her passion for helping others find their voice and reach their full potential.

When beginning with a new child, Myah focuses first on building rapport and creating a trusting, supportive environment. She believes meaningful progress starts with strong relationships, so she takes time to learn about each child’s interests, strengths, and personality. By following the child’s lead and incorporating motivating activities into therapy, she helps children feel comfortable, engaged, and excited to learn. Her favorite children’s book is The Crayon Box That Talked by Shane DeRolf.

As an early intervention specialist, Myah understands the importance of addressing communication needs during the critical developmental years. She works closely with families and caregivers to support speech, language, literacy, and social communication skills that will serve as a foundation for future success.

Through her compassionate approach, dedication to individualized care, and genuine enthusiasm for celebrating every milestone, Myah helps children build confidence in their communication abilities and discover just how much they are capable of achieving.
