Speech-Language Pathologist

Meet Karlee.

Karlee Kerr, M.S., CCC-SLP, is a Speech-Language Pathologist with the McKibben & Monte team in Detroit. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Speech-Language Pathology from Idaho State University and her Master of Science in Communication Sciences and Disorders from Utah State University. Karlee specializes in Listening and Spoken Language therapy, supporting children with hearing loss as they develop the communication skills needed to connect confidently with the world around them.

Karlee’s favorite part of being a therapist is spending her days with children and witnessing the meaningful progress they make in their communication skills. Whether a child is mastering a new sound, developing stronger language abilities, or finding greater confidence in expressing themselves, she finds immense joy in being part of that journey.

She was inspired to pursue speech-language pathology because she always knew she wanted to work with children while also building a family of her own. The profession offered the perfect opportunity to make a positive impact on the lives of others while maintaining the flexibility to prioritize family life. Today, Karlee is a proud mom of five and appreciates the balance her career provides.

When beginning with a new child, Karlee takes a play-based, child-led approach. She believes that trust is the foundation of progress and works to build strong relationships that help children feel comfortable, motivated, and excited to learn. By following a child’s interests and strengths, she creates meaningful opportunities for communication growth.

Outside of work, Karlee loves spending time with her family and making memories both big and small. Family game nights are a favorite, and she has earned a reputation for baking a mean birthday cake. A fun fact about Karlee: she grew up in Idaho, where she spent her childhood waterskiing on the Snake River and snow skiing with breathtaking views of the Grand Teton Mountains.

With her warm, child-centered approach and expertise in listening and spoken language development, Karlee is passionate about helping children build the skills and confidence they need to communicate successfully in everyday life.
