Sabrina was inspired to pursue speech pathology while observing hospital care being provided to her grandfather just before she entered college. She decided to work adjacent to the medical field to help patients and families in similar situations. While she originally planned to work with an older population, she found a love for and strength in working with children.
Sabrina’s favorite part about being a speech therapist is her role in improving quality of life through helping with communication skills. She helps kids with stuttering and speech sound impairments feel more confident. Most importantly, she finds the greatest reward in helping children with language impairments more effectively communicate their wants and needs.
Her primary approach to therapy when first working with a child is to foster a connection with the child and to incorporate their family’s personal goals and the child’s interests.
