Meet Mackenzie, a Speech-Language Pathologist with the McKibben & Monte team in Columbus. Mackenzie earned her Bachelor of Arts in Speech and Hearing Sciences from The Ohio State University and her Master of Arts in Speech-Language Pathology from the University of Akron. She specializes in language development and Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC), helping children find their voices and connect with the world around them.
Mackenzie’s favorite part of being a therapist is the role she gets to play in empowering children to communicate their wants and needs while building meaningful connections with others. Her passion for speech therapy was first inspired by an autistic neighbor she babysat for. Watching him thrive through therapy sparked her interest in the field and showed her the life-changing impact communication support can provide.
When beginning therapy with a new child, Mackenzie focuses on what matters most to the child and their family—identifying priorities for how the child engages with their world and tailoring sessions to meet those goals. This personalized, family-centered approach ensures therapy is both effective and meaningful.
Her favorite quote, “A single act of kindness throws out roots in all directions, and the roots spring up and make new trees,” by Amelia Earhart, reflects the compassion she brings to her work and her belief in the ripple effect of positive communication.
Outside of work, Mackenzie loves spending time with her husband and two children. Together, they enjoy hiking, playing games, and making the most of time outdoors. With her thoughtful approach, expertise, and heartfelt dedication, Mackenzie is a valued part of the McKibben & Monte team.
